Hawaii State Committee Meeting

August 23, 2024 12:00 pm via Zoom

 

In Attendance:

Meeting was called to order at 12:04 by Chairman Pam Zak.

Drop back Date:

Motion by Joe to make all drop back dates to 1 month before each respective state meet. Second by Lisa.  Passed.

 

Fall State Meet:

The Fall state meet remains Nov 23/24 weekend Dev Levels 3, 4, 5, and Xcel Bronze and Silver. Bids are open until September 15th.

 

Optional State Meet:

Motion by Lisa to hold the Optional State meet March 22/23 weekend. Second Karla. Passed.

Regional Judges:

Motion by Joe to continue to have NAWGJ send a recommended list for judges to submit for regionals with the committee having the ability to overrule.  Second by Karla.  Lisa abstained. Motion Passed.

GIP

The first weekend in January is GIP. HITS is considering including compulsory and Xcel this year.

Motion by Phoebe to adjourn at 12:39. Second by Lisa. Passed

 

Hawaii All State Meeting- August 13, 2023 -On ZOOM

Chairman Pam Zak called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm Hawaii time.

Compulsory Season:

Motion Nanette, second Karla to have Bronze and Silver compete in state meet in the fall. Passed.

Motion Phoebe Second Karla to allow Bronze and Silver to be in both the fall and spring state meet. Passed.

Teams need to put their information in the google docs for which season they will be in and numbers of athletes. Reminder athletes can be in two state meets a year as long they are in different levels/divisions.

Motion to allow the fall state meet to be in gym.

Motion Nanette, second Pattie to have the fall state meet November 18/19 weekend. Passed.

Drop back will be 2 weeks before the state meet.

Discussion number of athletes per age group and number of places to go out. Age groups will be decided by mid-October so that athletes have time to register.

Age Groups and Awards: Joe suggested to use 15 per age group and to go out to 10th place.

Reminder all qualifying scores are 32.0 AA.

Be sure and read minutes and updates: sanctions with athletes are $250, judges fees are $1 more per hour, and assigning fees went up to $5 per judge.

 

Pattie stated that there are 10 judges in the state but not all are available all the time.

Spring Season:

Motion Pattie second Phoebe to have the Spring state meet March 23/24 weekend. Passed.

Cora indicated if numbers were too great for the spring meet, she would be willing to host the Bronze and Silver state with her meet the first weekend in March.

Hawaii State Committee Meeting July 27, 2023, via ZOOM

Chairman Zak called the meeting to order at 11:00 am.

 

Discussion was held about the schedule for the fall compulsory state meet and the USAG Hawaii Invitational meet.  The dates for the fall state meet are between November 18th weekend and December 2nd weekend.  No decision was made.

 

Discussion was held concerning Bronze and Silver competing in the fall state meet or being just an invitational in the fall with the state meet in the spring. No decision was made.

 

Discussion of age groups was held.  The current athletes in each compulsory age group will be split into age divisions of groups of 12 – 15.  The age groups will be used in the USAG Hawaii meet and the state meet. 

 

Discussion was held about having an all-state meeting via zoom to get input on the above items before a final decision is made.  Suggestions were August 6 or 13 sometime between 11 am and 1 pm. Each team would get 1 vote at the meeting.
